My students need support in grounding themselves and building their coping skills before they are able to access their academic learning. We so often forget that high schoolers need to learn these skills and that it looks different that it did in elementary school. In my class, they will be able to journal, relax, use aromatherapy, meditate, and find the coping skill that allows them to thrive. When students feel good internally, they are able to push forward toward success. With these supplies, my students will be able to have a safe haven to come to when they need support before returning to the academic classroom. When mental health is supported, the whole child is supported.
