It doesn't matter if my students are in a math, reading, science or social studies class, a variety learning spaces are wonderful for keeping my high energy students focused during all class sessions. These are potentially great for all students, not just students with ADHD. Learning carpets provide students with a way to read, learn and focus while being able to be in close proximity to their teacher. If we are learning adding with place value mats or listening to a story together from a big book, having this large carpet will benefit their learning. It can also be used for small group instruction or even center time. Students love alternate seating. Although our daily lessons provide many opportunities to move about in the room, having a variety of learning spaces give the students choices when deciding spaces that are comfortable for their preferred learning style. I know my students will benefit from having alternative learning spaces in our 1st grade class!
