A famous proverb states: “Tell me, I’ll forget; show me, I’ll remember; involve me. I’ll understand.” This is exactly what I am aiming for with this project. Virtual learning comes with challenges and I believe these math kits I am requesting are just what my students need. It will help them with the essential skills needed to be successful in math. Students will be able to count by 1s, 10’s, 5’s, add, subtract and work with place value. Hands-on activities are so important in 1st grade, and I want to provide my students with the opportunity to experience that. Your donation to this project will help my students be engaged in my math lessons using a hands-on approach which will foster the growth of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. They will be able to see and touch objects not just do paper/pencil exercises, being told about it, or watching me do it on a whiteboard. Learning will be fun!
