Classroom carpets and seating are essential in creating an atmosphere and environment that is bright, cheerful, and inviting. This is where my classroom will gather every morning for our read alouds and phonics lessons every day. We begin and end our day on our classroom carpet to hash out the lessons learned. As my first-grade students move from center to center they will be able to use the flexible seating to listen to a story and then apply their weekly comprehension skills using their journals. When my students reach the library center they will stretch out, relax and enjoy a book for the sheer pleasure of reading.
