As the majority of my students come from print-poor environments and second language homes, my ultimate goal is to provide them with a "book flood." These books will expose my students to a variety of perspectives in an accessible format. By immersing themselves in the worlds of these modern and relevant texts, my students will learn to build empathy and understanding for others while still developing critical reading skills and, above all, a passion for reading. Fluency in reading is the key to academic success, while empathy and understanding are the keys to socio-emotional success. Providing accessible, relevant texts will allow me to foster these vital socio-emotional and academic skills in my students.

About my class
