Whether my students are remote learning or in my physical classroom, they are checked in for the daily adventure of new learnings, building on current skills and community within our classroom and school. The fundamentals of reading, and instilling a love for reading in my students is imperative in my classroom. Reading is a life-long skill that will be used daily in ways that students might not realize at first, such as following directions on an assignment, instructions on a game or toy, learning how something works, or filling out a college or job application. It all begins with reading! Each student has unlimited potential, and sometimes it takes a new way for the lightbulb to turn on and see the smile of confidence and understanding. In reading, materials that I use in my classroom become so much more than just reading a book. By using mentor texts, and supplementing with hands-on, relatable activities from Teachers Pay Teachers, I can reach every learner at their level. By donating to our project, you are helping my students understand texts, reinforce learned skills while practicing at home and school, and create memories in their hearts! A book that they once "didn't like" could become a favorite!
