Since COVID, we all know that life has not been the same. Kids cannot sit together at lunch, they have separate playground areas for each class, and they cannot work in groups anymore. They cannot even check out books from the library or bring their own playground equipment to school. And finally, they need to remember to bring water bottles because the water fountains are shut off! I do not know a single adult that remembers everything they need before they walk out the door. Expecting these kids to remember every day is unrealistic. I would like to help solve this problem. Kids should not go thirsty all day because they cannot remember their water bottles. Some do not even have refillable ones to bring. Teachers have told me that some kids do not drink the entire day because they figure, since they forgot their water bottle, they will just have to deal with it. We do have water bottles that we give kids, but we do not have enough, and they are not the refillable. If we could get refillable water bottles, the kids could use them over and over and if they forget to bring theirs, they can just come to the nurse’s office. I would like to end the thirst at our school!! (Especially in Arizona)
