The Orton Gillingham Approach is upheld as the highest professional practice for the treatment of dyslexia. It will prepare me to further individualize instruction to meet the specific needs of each of my students. I see this benefiting some of my most neediest readers like those who are in 4th grade reading, but at a 1st grade/beginning of 2nd grade level in reading. I need to meet their needs. I am dedicated to meeting my students needs. Having this training will provide me with the knowledge, assessments, and teaching tools I will need to accomplish this. It will also provide me with time saving quality teaching tools. I see this is as framework to work from, using my own knowledge and professional judgement to adjust where necessary to meet my students needs. I found that completing the intermediate training provided by my district was beneficial, but most of my students are functioning at a beginning level. I am looking forward to educating myself and supporting my students in ways I haven't been able to in the past.
