Movement for preschoolers is an integral part of their development, school day, and social emotional development. The ability to learn through play is the foundation of our curriculum. The need for gross motor activities that are age-appropriate, support development, and motivate children to learn are necessary for our program. Many students who have participated in our program have learned to ride tricycles in our building. As our program has grown, we have found ourselves in a place where we have many students who will benefit from this gross motor opportunity to learn new skills. Currently, our ability to provide those meaningful activities is limited due to a lack of equipment. Children exploring their world using a variety of tricycles, scooters, and self-propelled cars is the focus of this project! Adding this equipment to our program will give students choices as to which equipment is best suited for them, allows them to challenge their physical development, and embraces healthy social-emotional development and positive peer interaction.
