Science this year looks very different due to the pandemic. These materials will help my students experience science while social distancing. The students will have individual whiteboards and markers to work together in small groups and share their answers while social distancing. The items selected will help them engage in labs that fit the 8th grade standards. The beads, pipe cleaners, brown bags and baggies will be used for dna models and measuring biodiversity. The mirrored sheets, digital the thermometers, Butt Set Line Cord, digital scale, mini speaker, and small amp were all items suggested for labs that explore 8th grade AZ standards. The googles will be wonderful because them they do not need to share them on a given day and I can sanitize them at the end of the day. The containers will help to make individual kits and keep supplies organized. The board games and buzzers will be used during brain breaks and while social distancing. They will promote teamwork. These items will help them get excited about the science phenomenon presented and work together to investigate it while social distancing. I hope this creative way of experiencing science will encourage them to continue in this subject and be successful in the academic journey. I can't wait to hear the learning going on in the classroom.
