Materials used in our sensory room will be used to help students regulate their emotions and de-escalate behavior. When we de-escalate student behavior, we are able to enhance student relationships with peers and adults, increase academic productivity, and reduce the need for more restrictive or invasive behavioral interventions. The sensory tools included in this project provide tactile materials that can help our students calm when experiencing strong emotions or serve as an activity for the student to engage in with an adult when talking through a social/emotional or behavioral problem.
