These materials will be used in helping the students to learn about different mediums and materials used in art making. The students will learn about clay and how it can be used to make all kinds of items. More specifically, students will get to create a sea turtle with the clay. Once it drys they will be allowed to put their painting skills to use to paint their sea turtle. With the clay, students will be allowed to use their creative skills and really put their knowledge and hands to use in the art room. Students are more engaged and willing to participate when they get a choice of what to create and when they get to create using their hands instead of a utensil. Creating with the clay, using their hands will give them a deeper sense of being able to create something with their hands instead of with a pencil or brush. It’s very easy to make beautiful messes in art class. The aprons are needed to help them not have to worry about they mess they are making while getting their creative motivation on!
