Students should always be in a classroom that provides them with diverse/cultural materials and resources. I will be able to do this by having a classroom library that displays authors and characters from different backgrounds. This is imperative because minority students need to be able to see themselves in the content that is being presented to them. This will allow students to make text to self-connections and even text to world connections. By having culturally diverse materials in the classroom, all students will be able to see that there is so much more to the world than their own perspective of it. With culturally responsive resources, I will be able to teach students that even though we are different, we can still embrace these differences. Embracing these differences will do more than teach students to tolerate one another, it will teach students to accept their differences and respect each other for doing so.
