When a child feels frustrated or is on the verge of an emotional breakdown, especially with pandemic, they need a soothing outlet. With the calming corner, the student has a chance to pull themselves together and go back to class with a better attitude. My students grades are noticeably better when they are given a choice to have a quiet and serene place to reset themselves. Calm down corners help students to practice identifying feelings and emotions to better manage stress, self-regulate and control their impulses. Having a space designed to support them emotionally and physically helps them feel safe and comfortable, allowing them to let down their guard to process different feelings.
