When my amazing students come to me, they are entering their last year of elementary school. They are part of a world that is about to become increasingly complex, confusing, and challenging as they enter the teen years and middle school. They are also becoming increasingly interested in technology, and social media. I can think of no better way to help these students navigate these years, than introducing them to a wide variety of books, characters, and magic. "There are many little ways to enlarge your world; Love of books is the best of all" (Jacqueline Kennedy). The purpose of this project is to further develop a love of reading with these students. As students navigate these books, they will identify with characters. They will understand multiple perspectives. They will meet amazing new characters and be exposed to a world of new experiences. Most importantly, this project will allow my students to develop a genuine love of books. Through the use of these incredible books, these students will continue to read as they get older. Developing life-long readers should be the goal of every educator, and every business willing to help.
