My classroom supports 22 emotional support students. These students have a variety of mental health concerns that provide barriers in their day to day life. I can tell you the group that I have, have been inspired to persevere! They use the structure of the classroom as a motivation to do so. The classroom is set up to be a give and take token economy. When the students are accomplishing goals and demonstrating appropriate classroom behavior they are awarded classroom money. They are able to use this money to buy things for their liking from the classroom store. The students are also fined for negative behavior. This system has shown great success in our classroom. Please help us to keep the items they enjoy stocked so the motivation keeps rolling. There are a few items that are added to the list in order to make a "cool down" spot in the room, with covid-19 this has been difficult. I am hoping having the mat flooring will help the area to feel comfortable and provide the support the students need.
