We study weather every year. We discuss words such as rain gauge, anemometer, barometer, hygrometer, thermometer, and wind vane. I always have pictures to show the students, but never the actual instruments. By having this weather station the kids will be able to visually see and record data on a daily basis. It will allow them to become more active in learning. They will be able to check the instruments on a daily basis and record their findings. It's as Ben Franklin says... “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn”. The kids will walk away with more knowledge if presented with hands on learning.
