For this project, I am asking for a document camera and laminating pouches. These items are important to me to add to my classroom because we will be able to make some existing resources go further, and tap into students' different modes of learning by adding visual and tactile elements to concepts. Sometimes our story of the week is not one that we have copies for everyone to follow along in. That is one thing I would be extremely excited to use the document camera for: To share the entire experience of the books with students, not just listening to the story. Other than giving students the ability to read along with me, the document camera would also give me the opportunity to provide more visuals to accompany our lessons. Right now, the most-used visuals are anchor charts. I would like to use the camera to show students specifically how to practice a new concept, like how to play a game or complete an activity. The camera would allow me to model these things in real-time, as opposed to only hearing my directions. I feel like that will give students a great nudge toward being successful in their learning. I know that laminating sheets are not a high-priced item, but I use them quite a bit! Since COVID started, a lot of games and activities can't be utilized due to cleaning/safety protocols. The best solution I've found to this is to laminate, laminate, laminate! I print and laminate educational games for students to practice new concepts, for small groups to play, and for teacher-led small groups. Since they are laminated, they can be disinfected. Due to the safety/cleaning protocols, I do make more sets of each activity to limit sharing and keep students safe!
