The books will impact the classroom by allowing the students to engage in reading the book. Instead of a read-aloud novel study, students will work in small groups to read the novel together. How can I, as a teacher and a human being, expect them to engage if there is nothing that they have that is tangible? That is something they can take out and say, this is what we are working on in ELA. Since they will choose their novel, I need more copies of books that are currently unavailable.
