The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! Starting with a microscope is how we began almost two hundred years ago to get where we are now. Microbiology also gave us a boost to the growth of science in general but biological science in particular. The developing world including Kennedy Elementary students and all upcoming children have to start with the excitement and microscope also. The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful science. Because we don't have to make them rediscover the wheel, they just have to be exposed to what is already known. From scientific exploration they can start their own journey of making their own discoveries. As the teacher, I have done extensive research on why we need to teach science in elementary school. Our future depends on a public that can use science for personal decision-making and to participate in civic, political, and cultural discussions related to science. Help students see how contemporary science relates to careers and endeavors in their world. I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
