My students are persevering as they learn remotely, but there is nothing like holding your very own copy of a great book. All year we have been reading books about children who demonstrate perseverance and courage. Our next book is The Witches, by Roald Dahl. This book is another great example of those themes. As we learn about all of the elements of literature, I want my students to feel ownership of the text. I want them to be able to mark the text knowing this book belongs to them. Our next book is The Indian in the Cupboard, by Lynne Reid Banks, again focusing on themes in literature, and tying to our learning in social studies. Both of these titles spark students' interest and imagination. My hope is to begin to build each child's home library.
