As a 4th grade Reading and Social Studies teacher, I have the unique opportunity to use cross-curricular materials to enhance learning. This class set of novels will do that in an engaging and motivating way. The "I Survived" book series is perfect for 4th graders because it's written in a way that puts the students right into the action. As they are experiencing these historical events, it's activating their literacy experience in Historical Fiction and prompting discussions about the regional setting of the story. It may even act as a catalyst to become a lifelong reader!
