I have seen an increase in anxiety, depression and mental health issues related to the pandemic throughout our school community. I will be using these books for students from kindergarten through 6th grade to help them learn about emotional regulation, coping skills, friendship skills, problem solving, recognizing emotions, and working together. I use books in my classroom lessons, small groups, and individually with student to help teach these concepts to students. With these new books, my social emotional learning library will be enhanced and will give me the ability to teach additional topics to my students. In addition, the games will be used in a variety of ways. They will be made available to our families to "check out" for families to play at home together. We want our families, particularly our families that don't have access to resources like this, to be able to spend time together doing something fun while strengthening their relationships. They will also be available to teachers to use in their classrooms for positive reinforcement and incentives, or on days where we have indoor recess.
