It is amazing how many mental health benefits there are just from playing basic games. Socials skills can be taught through games which can help children lead a happier and less isolated lives. Life skills such as following rules, taking turns and sharing with others can be taught with board games. That is why I am hoping to get a variety of games that will not only appeal to them, but to help them with their mental health and social interactions.
Games not only benefit children socially and emotionally, but they help with cognitive skills such a simple number and pattern recognition to more complex calculations. Many of the games require logic, mathematical skills, and abstract thinking.
The benefit of most games is that they are designed to play with a group of people. This helps build positive relationships which is associated with good mental health. For those students that have difficulty making friends, playing games is a perfect opportunity to have a conversation and have the game be the focus of conversation.
With so many different types of games, there are endless opportunities for kids to have an escape for while learning life’s lessons and making new friends. In today’s world, everyone could benefit from playing games.
