Teaching in a self contained special education classroom, many students have intense sensory oriented needs. Closed in spaces will help them to feel safe and at ease. The flexible seating, teepee tent and weighted lap pads will be a great asset to my calming corner as well as the many sensory breaks and activities we do throughout the day. A lot of the sensory toys that we have in my classroom are old and worn out, this is making behaviors increase and the need for high pressure sensory increase as well.
