Not all classrooms have four walls and my students have made phenomenal progress this school year since we got rid of the walls and took learning outside. Lessons that would normally take 30-45 minutes in the classroom are understood and applied in close to half the time. Their excitement to learn and eagerness to explore has strengthened them socially, emotionally, and academically. Behavior issues are nonexistent and students are loving their connection to each other and the natural world. We want to stay outside where we learn best, but we need a shelter so we can comfortably learn in all weather. My students want to stay out!
