As we all experienced, 2020 was a complicated year. COVID and the Black Lives Matter movement caught our students attention. Questions about racism and anti-racism spouted from their mouths. As a community, we knew we needed to have discussions. Our children are avid readers and we thought books are often the best teachers. We found the book Anti-Racist Baby by Ibram X Kendi and would like to complete a school-wide book study to introduce our students and community to the nine easy steps for building a more equitable world. We want to get each family a copy of the book. We hope that this book study will help deepen student conversations and understanding about race.

About my class
