Reading is a struggle in our Title One school. I am constantly researching and looking for books that display lessons/themes that might not be found in their everyday lives; lessons that show empathy, perseverance, determination, and overall success. The books that I have chosen do just that. Reading is a phenomenal way of experiencing life outside the city limits. Each one of the titles is chosen to stir their emotions and deep thought. The books are the heart of this project, but the miscellaneous items are what help create the deep discussions (Sharpies for charts and projects, headphones for the oral accommodations, and the rug for homey circle time). Thank you for considering my project. During this uncertain time, reading and discussing are a large part of keeping up with the student's social-emotional well-being.
