We are expanding our general and choral music classes at Bush Hills STEAM academy to include music technology. Our first planned unit will focus on manipulating audio by adding effects, transposing, and producing synthetic sounds. The Tascam digital recording device will allow us to capture sounds to produce vocal and instrumental music that we can manipulate in a digital audio workstation. In an effort to prepare our scholars to be successful in a technologically advanced society, we are shifting our focus to more contemporary methods of music production and performance. We realize that traditional vocal and instrumental performance is just one aspect of music and music performance in the 21st century. Our goal is to allow our students the freedom and resources to explore more technology-rich aspects of music education.
