I have a very high energy class. I don't believe in containing them to a desk and a chair. Kids need to move freely and they need to be able to comfortable. Due to COVID restrictions I have had to change my classroom seating arrangement and don't have enough flexible seating for every kid. I think that every kid deserves to be able to wiggle, move, and learn through kinetic choices. Giving kids choices in their seating helps them feel like they have control over part of their education. It helps them choose what will be best for them, and it helps them stay focused during direct instruction. I know as an adult it is very hard to sit still for hours at a time; so I can only imagine how it feels as a child. I would love to be able to keep my same classroom environment even during these hard times. I think that it will really benefit my students and help keep morale up and going. All seating options can be sanitized and disinfected for safety.
