As my students work toward completing content, I am in need of a set of review guides that can help us better prep for the AP Biology exam. With students of all skill levels (from autistic to top 5 in the graduating class), I enjoy getting them in small groups where they can interact with each other and dialogue about our content (and life). This study guide would provide us great opportunities to not only do that, but to help my students organize their thoughts (after 40+ chapters of college level content that we began back in July). Due to recent budget cuts, these types of supplements are no longer covered by the district and I think it's important to treat this group like "grown-up" students by providing them a consumable resource. Students need to feel their books. They need to highlight them, write in them, annotate them, and own them like they would in college. This would be something they could take with them, and use during their future science courses AND might help them appreciate how the learning process is supposed to work as they embark on their post secondary education.
