These books will be used to read aloud to scholars online and in person to teach social issues as well as fostering the love of reading to these first graders! They also will be used to make a classroom library. First grade is such a pivotal time for scholars to learn to read and write, and it is crucial that we close the achievement gap. Unfortunately Covid has made it more difficult to give these scholars the resources and tools to help them achieve their greatness. I would love to have books in the room that promote diversity and inclusion. The scholars who come back in person will not be able to leave the classroom and share materials. These books will be our own set of books.
