We did a bunch of hands on projects in December for a Holidays around the World unit. These supplies would be used in similar upcoming units to allow access to creating art and to use fine motor skills. Painting and making things with clay sparked an interest I have not seen in my students before. Usually they are gluing and cutting, but painting made them smile. They were so focused that you could see a bunch a heads and hands working and hardly heard a peep. (We were at home learning at that time.) In January, we are planning to trap a snowman and complete some snowy watercolor pictures. In February, we will make something for someone we care about out of clay. In March, we will be learning about all things spring and will be many projects with flower themes. I cannot wait to being this fun process with them.
