With the "INs and OUTs" of third grade learning this most unique school year, the materials listed here will make a significant and positive difference in my student's learning. First, a pair of headphones and a mouse per student are integral in promoting and empowering individual online learning which has been taking place both at home and in-person at school. Second, the hands-on manipulatives will promote creativity while maintaining safe distances and allow each student to have their own supply. We love sharing, but that is not an option currently. These individualized tools and materials will continue to foster student collaboration and cooperation in "physically but not socially distant" ways such as listening to one another's writing, discussing math solutions to problems, or simply engaging in great story together and sharing personal experiences, connections, or creations. Whether we meet in-person or online for school in 2021, the headphones help to minimize distractions and allow students to meet in "online break-out rooms" instead of collaborating around a small table. Students (and their families) struggle to purchase quality materials that seem to break or get lost in the commute between home and school. I have already purchased individual bins so the students can better store them safely and take charge of their own materials at school or while at home.
