Integrating technology effectively in my classroom will provide my students opportunities to see the world in the comfort of our classroom and it will change the way I teach and the way mt students learn. As a social studies teacher, one of my roles is to model appropriate uses of technology in the classroom.
I am in desperate need of an Apple 13 inch MacBook Pro. I want to bring my students into contact with firsthand accounts of events as discussed in our social studies curriculum. This innovative device will help me to relate my subject matter in a personal way to events of the past and promote a deeper understanding of history as a series of human events. I would be able to access libraries with artifacts, videos, and virtual field trips from all over the world using the MacBook because of its powerful classroom apps and how it delivers unmatched ease of use, keeping the focus on learning, not on the technology.
In each of our units, we will look at printed primary resources and artifacts that support the objective for the day. Students are always mesmerized when looking at ancient artifacts and examples from various time periods. I want to bring those locations to my students in the classroom by bringing virtual and world field trips to classroom along with having access to interactive libraries and museums all over the world to display for their viewing. What a way to bring the world to us!
