Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19, our school has been switching between to models (hybrid and virtual) for instruction. This transition has been tough and I found myself creating "Doorstep Delivery" packets more frequently and needing a better way to create materials. Many of my students are visual and tactile learners who benefit from consistency.
The Silhouette will be used to print and cut materials for letter sounds independent centers. In Kindergarten, students must know their letters and sounds to begin reading. This has been hard due to COVID and distance learning since the students are not in the classroom. I plan on creating the centers and send them home in my weekly “Doorstep Delivery” bags. This way students will have the needed materials in their possession.
Some of my students can focus while on the laptop, but concrete materials make learning more rigorous. Making differentiated materials for students can be time-consuming, a Silhouette Cameo machine will help me decrease cutting time and allow me to make many sets of materials for students at home and in the classroom.
