Thank you for considering this project. My students are passionate about learning. They haven't been given the opportunity to experience STEM in a fun, relatable way and that is why I am asking for funding for an iPad, protection plan, LEGO sets, and storage for this project.
You will see that the majority of what I am requesting is from LEGO for Education. I am passionate about the LEGO program and my students are too! What kid doesn't like playing with LEGOs, and when I can capture their imaginations with LEGOs they are passionate about exploring STEM related topics using these LEGOs. These sets can be sent home during at home learning and we can then meet together virtually to explore STEM related activities as a team and also allow them time at home to just develop their imaginations, how cool!
The technology related items will help our program by using the iPad with protection plan to operate the LEGO We Do 2.0 sets where the students will code their LEGO robots to do various tasks and movements. These technology tools will be invaluable resource additions to our classroom and will allow my students to have hands-on experiences with some really "cool" technology.
In many cases our students come from very low income families and communities, I ask for your support to give my students the same exposure to technology and hands on-learning that the more affluent districts near us have. This will be achieved only through your generous support for our students.
