Creating a classroom that feels like home has always been something that I have wanted to provide for my students. I am a first year teacher of English Language Learners. These students are from Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador. When the students come to the United States, they are away from home for the first time and are often times away from family members they miss and love. Creating a classroom that feels like home provides comfort and peace for my students. What better way to make someone feel at home than to provide a hot cup of coffee and a room filled with soft colors on the walls. Coffee is a huge part of my students' culture and something that makes them feel warm and comforted. I mean Nebraska winters can be pretty cruel, right!? The Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards will be used to buy bundles for my classroom walls. Providing a pop of color to my blank walls will add to the experience of cultivating a classroom that makes students feel at home. The bundles also include labels that I can place on the objects of my room that will also help the student learn the name of the object in English.
