Several trusted sources recommended the Fast ForWord program to me. What specifically appeals to me is its multimodal approach. I have ten students who are more than 2 years behind their average grade level. My job is to address their behavioral problems, but it is clear that their outburst are caused by frustration at the feeling of being locked out of the literate world. I can see their potential; they understand so much of the world around them. They just need a tool that engages their diverse learning styles to unlock reading and writing. With Fast ForWord, my struggling readers can advance up to 2 whole grade levels in a span of 40-60 hours of instruction. The program uses fun video games which I know will be motivating to my students.
