A peace corner is a designated safe and healing space for students to explore, address, and work through their emotions. The stress and trauma that our students face often manifest in the form of strong and intense emotional experiences. We want to create a peace corner that hollistically cares for our students with materials that support physical comfort, safety, emotion identification, emotion regulation, and sensory support. Our primary goal is to help our students develop the social-emotional skills to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. Social-emotional development supports mental health, positive relationship building, and academic success. Most importantly, children who engage in healthy social-emotional learning become caring and compassionate adults. By helping students regulate their emotions and develop positive relationships with others, we can help them develop skills that will help them be successful in all that they do.
