I would love for my students to have rich literature in their hands for us to read, discuss, and collaborate on together. The book From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler is about two children that are well-educated and model a love of learning. It provides many opportunities for real life discussions that the students can relate to. The book The Watson's Go to Birhmingham is a historical fiction book told from a fourth grader's perspective. By reading and discussing this book, my students will develop an understanding of why it is important to know themselves and understand the points of view of others in order to successfully face and solve conflicts.
