Minuteman High School is looking to run a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) based summer camp starting in 2021 for 6th-8th graders. These camps would be 5-days long and would be facilitated by Minuteman Engineering Technology students as well as members of our new FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 8604. This project will benefit the Minuteman students by giving them valuable mentorship and leadership skills, as well as technical skills in building and programming robots. Our project will also benefit the Minuteman community as a whole by providing a STEM-based summer camp opportunity in the area. Prospective Minuteman students will learn how to create and program EV3 robots to play FLL-based games, while getting exposure to our school, students and staff members. I have run FLL-based summer camps for several years now and these camps are extremely popular at the middle school level. Students walk away with a working knowledge of FLL and EV3, as well as a newfound interest and passion for STEM.
