I work in a low income school in the city of Chicago. My classroom consists from 26 students. Out of the 26 students I have 9 that are diverse learners. All of them are English Language Learners. These students need additional help and support for in person learning, however E-learning is so much more difficult. We are in a unique situation right now, and the students are going through a hard time. Learning has all of a sudden become more difficult for my diverse and English Language Learners. They are a sweet and caring wonderful group of students who are eager to learn. The first item that would help my students learn is the IPad which works well when presenting to students and using a whiteboard to visually solve problems. I want to be able to portray mathematical operations. I want students to follow along with me while reading- in order to follow each word. I will be able to underline and highlight using the apple pen that I chose to go with the IPad. Some of my students have trouble hearing me through the computer which is why I chose the Airpods. I wish the situation was different and I would be able to see my students in person, and in my classroom. We would be able to do more hands-on learning, as most of them would benefit from it. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The least I can do for my students to make the school day/ classroom experience "normal" is to use the whiteboard and be able to clearly present my instructions/ step-by-step instruction. Due to their language barriers, they would benefit from highlighting/underlining texts. Thank you in advance for all of the support during these difficult times.
