As a result of COVID-19, my students have had to learn to adapt to a "new normal." While they have demonstrated exceptional flexibility, providing my students with safe, alternative seating options and helping them to remain socially distant have been two of the greatest challenges. Surf seats provide a solution to both. Surf seats will provide my students with safer and more flexible seating options. Because of their desk-like structure, surf seats will allow my students to create more distance between themselves, serving as a "mobile desk" in the classroom. They will additionally allow my students to form socailly-distanced small groups that are not bound by the constraints of a table, allowing for safe teamwork and collaboration among classmates. Because of the need to keep all materials properly sanitized in order to reduce the spread of the virus, most, if not all, flexible seating options have had to be removed from classrooms. However, because of the material that surf seats are made of, they are easy to clean, making them an ideal and safe option for students to use who need an opportunity to learn outside of a traditional desk and chair. Having surf seats as an option for my students will open up many opportunities that they currently do not have in their learning environment.
