Cardio drumming is a musical way for students to work on coordination, stamina, and cardio fitness. Remarkably, drumming, just like aerobic exercise, increases heart rate and blood flow while simultaneously engaging both the linear (rational left brain) and the creative (intuitive right brain) hemisphere of the brain. This helps students with being able to focus better on their classwork. Not only is cardio drumming a fun way to exercise, but it is also possible to keep students 6 feet apart while exercising. This is a plus in the PE classroom! This program can be used in all my classes, kindergarten through 5th grade. I can also teach my Developmentally challenged students to copy my rhythms while using movement.
