Pure or Putrid? That was the question that was posed to the 8th-grade classroom at our school last year. They began a Science-focused PBL (Project Based Learning) lesson analyzing water sources in our school. Students began the project by researching water sources (what can be or is in them) and by reading articles on water contamination. The next step included sampling water collected from each classroom in the school and performing a bacteria test on the fixtures. They then analyzed the results using the periodic table and math equations. The project culminated in each group of students presenting and writing up their portion of the project to the class. Results were favorable, but as we await the return to hybrid onsite instruction this school year, this year's 8th-grade class is pondering the results of the experiment from last year. Our drinking fountains are sanitized daily, yet students are still concerned due to COVID-19. Their idea is to get touchless water bottle filling stations. After researching this idea, students realized they were going to need help with funding. To be able to help the whole school stay healthy, have fresh water, help the environment, continue our Blue Zones efforts, and to give back to the school, a gift that will last for years is really exciting. I hope that you will help them achieve their vision of giving back to their Phoenix community. They have put countless hours into researching and figuring out the best solution for our school! Our school engages students with hands-on learning to help them master concepts and skills that relate to real-world situations. We appreciate you giving us your time and consideration for a donation. Thank you!
