In August, my office was moved from District Office into an Elementary School to allow me more opportunities to work day to day with our students!! While they graciously gave me space in an old conference room, my kids are in need of a comfortable, inviting space they feel is welcoming and can be converted to meet their individual needs. One way I can accomplish this is a NUGGET COMFORT! I strive to create and foster an office all students feel welcome and included; I can achieve this by providing a comfortable and safe space for my students to work, play, calm down, and learn in. This comfortable and fun piece of furniture can be arranged in many different ways to meet the needs of the diverse population of students I serve. Many of the students I see have social, behavioral and sensory needs. They may have anxiety, others have trouble regulating their emotions and require a place to safely calm down. Some simply need a quiet place for a break or a cozy place to receive counseling. This space would allow children to engage their creativity, release frustration and focus their energy back to learning. One set of Nuggets can be used by multiple students at one time. Not to mention, the covers are removable and machine washable, which makes for a healthy, germ free space!
