My students struggle with engagement and interaction in remote learning and really thrive when given new and unique opportunities to explain their thinking and be creative in their problem-solving. An activity that made a difference in my students' ability to solve linear equations in one variable was a Pixel Art activity using Google's platforms for education. My students loved being able to see pictures emerge from a blank grid by solving equations and using the values to unlock solutions. This activity came from teacherspayteachers.com, which holds a wealth of teacher activities that are amazing for remote learning to really make students think and keep them involved in math. Learning from home is challenging, but students will adapt with the right supports and services. Resources that I have found to be the most successful have come from teacherspayteachers.com and I want to continue giving my students a variety of applications, practice, and activities that help them grow as learners. Interactive Google activities from this resource have shined in providing my students with exciting new ways to do math in a virtual environment. I would love to continue to provide that experience!
