These materials will help give my students the ability to use hands on items to help them be successful when reading and completing math assignments. Since being remote students do not have those hands on materials that would really benefit them when learning addition, subtraction, tapping out words, etc. Not all students learn the same way. Right now we are depending on visual and auditory learning through being virtual. For some students it is extremely challenging to learn that way because they may be hands on learners. As I have been teaching 1st grade for the last few years I have learned that all of the learning styles must be involved when students are learning a new topic. Once we are back to in person learning these items would be greatly appreciated in order to give those students the opportunity to learn in a hands on way which we have been lacking since going remote. As well as focusing on their academic needs, we need to think about their social and emotional needs as well. Since going remote, my students lives have twisted upside down. They are dependent on virtual sessions to see and socialize with other students in their class. The social and emotional interaction these students get virtually isn't enough to help them express themselves. When we transition back to in person learning the Feelings Journal would really help my students express their feelings and learn how to share them.
