This semester our 6th-grade class will be engaging in literature circles focused on dystopian texts. These novels will allow each student to choose a novel that intrigues them! By providing student choice and high-interest novels, we are aiming to encourage our students to dive deeper into literature. Your contribution to this proposal will help promote the act of reading as a powerful, enjoyable, and relevant activity for each of my students. When reading, students interact with characters who face similar challenges and situations and build the capacity to think more critically about the world. Your contribution will be helping me to achieve my goal of nurturing a community of skilled, critical, and lifelong readers, as well as enhancing the personal development of the young people I teach.
